Innovation Camp – Intergenerational pact for the defense and adaptation of the Emilia-Romagna coast to climate change

The Intergenerational Pact “Innovation Camp” has come to an end. This was the pathway that, in the context of the participatory process “Che Costa Sara?” aimed to bring different generations together to collaborate on the challenge of climate change and in particular on the defense and adaptation of the Emilia-Romagna coast.

On Tuesday, April 4, 2023 – from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. – the final seminar will be held online on the zoom platform with the following speakers and Program:

  • Irene Priolo Vice-President and Assessor for the Ecological Transition, Contrast to Climate Change, Environment, Soil and Coastal Defense, and Civil Protection of the Emilia-Romagna Region;
  • Markku Markkula Vice president of the Committee of the Regions (CoR) and member of the Committee on Environment, Climate Change and Energy;
  • Stijn Verleyen DG JRC – Joint Research Centre of the European Commission;

the results of the work will be illustrated and, in particular, the prototypes created in the workshop will be presented.

In this regard, we recall that the first stage of the Intergenerational Camp, held on March 7, had included a public presentation of the Project and its path, which was followed by 3 co-design workshops, with a small group of intergenerational participants, held on March 14, 21, 28, 2023.

During the work, the groups discussed how different generations can collaborate to address the challenges that climate change poses to us, with particular focus on the impacts caused on the Emilia-Romagna coast.

Thanks to the  Science Meets Regions  Program promoted by the European Commission’s Joint Research Center to stimulate evidence-based policy making (#EUSci4Regio) and the application of the “Innovation Camp” method, many interesting proposals have emerged that may become outlines of the main elements of a future “Intergenerational Pact for the Defense and Adaptation of the Emilia-Romagna Coast to Climate Change.”
